Some commission work and the reappearance of Hillbert the Hill Giant

First off, I've been working on Hillbert just to get him finished and happy.  It has been so much fun that I have broken out my other Giants and will start painting them very soon.  I imagine that he is talking to me in a voice like a english Jim from Taxi while I'm painting him.  He will say things like "A bit more around the cockles...  Careful of my bitters" -- makes me laugh every time.

Next up are some birdmen I'm doing as a commission.  I like the way they came out so I thought I would post them.

Goblin Wolf Riders

These are some goblin wolf riders that I am doing as part of a larger commission.  I like the way they came out so I thought I would share.

Also here are some more Dungeon Saga Pics.  This game is too much fun and you should check it out when you get a chance.

Izzbuzz the Terrible

Back in the 80's my brother and sister and I used to play DnD together.  They were both older than me which made me the DM cuz I had lots of time on my hands.  My sisters favorite character (also her first) was Izzbuzz the terrible.  I ran adventures for the two of them for years until I discovered a game called Gama World and that the DMG had a way of converting characters from one universe to the other.  So what could I do but make a portal into Gama world at the end of an adventure and trick them into crossing.  Shortly after they did, I ran out of time and we stopped playing.  My sister has never forgiven me even though we haven't played together in decades.  Whenever gaming comes up, she lets me know(with love) that I stranded Izzbuzz in Gama world and then we quit playing.

Flash forward to 2016 and I have finely come up with a way to beg for forgiveness.  I am painting the give of Izzbuzz the Terrible for her.  Shhhh... Don't tell her.  Anyway this is a work in progress.

Happy New Year!

I got a chance to play DnD 5e over the holidays it looks just like this is turning into a regular thing!  I am so excited about this I might pee my pants.

One of the funnies events that happened the adventure was that the party was attacked by a Dark Mantle.  Okay so the attack wasn't funny -- at least to the character on the receiving end of it.  When we saw the name we quickly transformed it into something wrong.  Really wrong.  Dark Mantle became Dark Taint.  It was so funny that one player suggested that I modify a figure to commemorate the <dramatic voice> Dark Taint </dramatic voice>.

As you can see, I am no sculptor as you can see, but hey its my first effort.  I've filled gaps and re-positioned arms using green stuff but I have never created anything from scratch before.  The figure is a Reaper Bones miniature I got from a Reaper Kickstarter but the Dark Mantle is all my work.  I'm pretty happy with the results although I feel like I will do a much better job if I did it a second time.  For one thing, I would make it smaller.  There isn't really a size reference in the monster manual but after sculpting it I think it should be just large enough to cover a figures head.  Secondly, I would do the basic shapes first then add details later.
